We're a small team of people who chose Northern Michigan — and who built this practice for the place we call home.

Year Founded
Dr. Joshua Saur grew up in Charlevoix, Michigan — about twenty minutes down the road from where Bay Urgent Care now stands. After leaving for Michigan State University and the years of training that follow medical school, he came back home. Northern Michigan has a way of pulling people back.
He had been practicing in the area for years when, in 2022, an opportunity opened up. The building at 624 Charlevoix Ave. had been home to Bay Street Orthopedics — a well-respected local practice. When that practice transitioned out of the space, Dr. Saur saw something Northern Michigan didn't quite have yet: a clinic that combined real urgent care with real family practice, under one roof, owned and operated by people who actually live here.
So he bought it. And Bay Urgent Care and Family Practice opened its doors.
The mission was simple from the start: take the best of urgent care — fast, walk-in, X-ray and lab on-site, no appointment needed — and pair it with the best of family medicine — long relationships, primary care continuity, knowing patients by name. Most clinics do one well. Bay UC does both.
And just as importantly: stay independent. No hospital system pulling the strings. No corporate dashboard deciding how long providers spend with patients. Locally owned, locally accountable, locally rooted.

Most visits with us cost less than 10% of the average emergency room visit. We accept most major insurance plans and Medicare, and we're transparent about pricing for self-pay patients. Quality care shouldn't put you in debt.

Our providers aren't passing through Northern Michigan on the way somewhere else. They're from here. They live here. They raise their families here. When you walk into Bay UC, you're being cared for by people who run into your neighbors at the grocery store.
